Co-parenting and communicating with your former spouse

On Behalf of | Jul 5, 2017 | Uncategorized |

If you have at least one child with your former spouse, you know just how important it is to keep an open line of communication. Co-parenting is easier said than done, but you can make life much easier if you know how to communicate with your former spouse in an efficient and effective manner.

Here are some of the many things you need to do:

— Make it clear as to how it’s easiest to communicate

— Have respect for the other person’s time

— Keep a consistent schedule that you and your spouse can both live with

— Schedule a time to speak with your former spouse if there is anything important you need to discuss

— Don’t let any conflict linger

— Talk out problems with your ex, even if you think you know what is going on

— Don’t play the blame game

When it comes to co-parenting, there will be times when everything is going as planned. Unfortunately, there will also be times when you have to deal with difficult circumstances.

When you know how to communicate and devote yourself to avoiding trouble, you’ll find it much easier to get along at all times.

You are not trying to please your ex-spouse, but are instead looking to make decisions that will benefit your child.

If your ex doesn’t want to play nice for any reason, you may need to learn more about your legal rights. You don’t want to go down this path, but it’s important that you are able to maintain a strong relationship with your child.
