Foster child adoption a rewarding experience for many

Many couples in Florida may consider adoption, but actually taking the step requires careful consideration and the willingness to make a life-long commitment. For couples who are unsure about whether adoption is the right choice for them, caring for a foster child may be a logical step toward making a decision. There are hundreds of children in foster care in Florida who yearn for a family to open their hearts and home to them, and some of those children may later become eligible for adoption.

A Jacksonville couple recently adopted a 3-year-old boy who was found roving on the premises of a hotel. He was in a state of neglect when he was found and authorities removed him from the care of his substance-abusing mother. The Jacksonville couple offered to take the little boy in as a foster child. After four months of fostering, filled with effective parenting to rectify behavioral problems, the couple came to love the little boy and started the adoption process, which was completed in time for Thanksgiving.

The sense of security, love and happiness offered to a child by an adoptive family is immeasurable. Adoption in Florida is not restricted to couples, and single parents are also encouraged to consider it. In addition, adoptive parents are not restricted to only one child, making it common for families to take in another foster child after having completed one adoption.

Although the rewards are great, the legalities of adopting a foster child can be challenging and even intimidating. The services of an experienced adoption attorney may prove to be invaluable. Professional guidance through the legal process of foster child adoption may help streamline the process and eliminate much of the confusion. As adoption is governed by state laws, it is imperative to retain the services of a professional who is familiar with the adoption laws of Florida.
